Mini Careers Fair At Fusehill Street Campus

Here is some slightly delayed news from employers who attended this event, which took place in the Gateway on 2nd May:

Hays Recruitment

Full and part time work opportunities for students and graduates including reception, administration, project support and project management. Employers include NHS, schools and colleges, Riverside Housing, Cumbria County Council and manufacturing companies such as James Walker and Northern Food.

Event Guides

Have short term summer work on sales support on event publications and three permanent graduate vacancies.

Inspira
Recruiting summer volunteers for National Citizenship Service, working with 13-19 year olds.

Carlisle Youth Zone

Have volunteer and part-time roles working with children and young people.

Nestle, Dalston

Graduate scheme and quality assurance roles on offer. Looking mainly for candidates from science/technology backgrounds.

Yorkshire Graduate Recruitment Fair

Also on the Careers Fair trail, The Yorkshire Graduate Recruitment Fair takes place on Thursday 31st May between 11.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. at The Edge, University of Leeds and is open to graduates of all UK universities.

There will be over 90 employers, CV checks and a series of 10 minute workshops.

Manchester Graduate Recruitment Fair

We have received the following reminder notice about the above event from Manchester University:

  • Hundreds of graduate jobs (local and national) starting June onwards (mostly permanent and paid, but a handful of voluntary positions too) plus some postgrad course opportunities, all on offer at:  The Graduate Recruitment Fair, Manchester.
  • Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 June 2012, 10.30am – 4.00pm, The Armitage Centre, Fallowfield, Manchester.  DIFFERENT EXHIBITORS EACH DAY .
  • 160 companies and institutions – with graduate vacancies for this year. Attend on both days if you want to see all the exhibitors.  BRING COPIES OF YOUR CV.
  • STUDENTS & GRADUATES FROM ANY UNIVERSITY WELCOME.

The Manchester event is probably the biggest Graduate Fair within easy travelling of Cumbria, so it’s well worth booking a place.

International Teacher Recruitment Fair in Glasgow

International Education Recruitment agency Worldteachers are holding their inaugural Teacher Recruitment Fair in the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow – UK on 13th and 14th February 2012.

A number of International schools will be attending from various countries, to interview and offer jobs to teachers at various levels in different subjects.

Opportunities range from graduate Primary and Kindergarten teachers through to senior Secondary teachers, as well as TEFL and ESL language teachers.

MINI Careers Convention in Carlisle

There will be a Mini Careers Convention at Fusehill St Campus on Thursday 8th December 12 noon – 2.00 pm, Ground Floor, Learning Gateway, to help students find out about possible career opportunities. Available at the event will be:

* Simon Norbury of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust on the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme, which covers opportunities in General Management, Finance Management, Human Resources and Health Informatics (ICT). The scheme is open to potential gaduates (including Nursing and Health Diploma students) who are expecting a 2.2. For more information see www.nhsgraduates.co.uk

* Linda Danielis (representing the Chartered Institute of Marketing) who will cover opportunities in marketing – one of the career areas most often sought after by graduate employers.

* A selection of careers materials to take away

Note: The deadline for application for the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme is 10.00 a.m. on Friday 9th December so it would be well worth while to start planning your application before Thursday.

University of Cumbria – Teaching Careers Fair

Advance notice for our Education students and graduates that this year’s Careers Fair is on Monday 5th December 2011 (Lancaster Campus)

The Fairs is an ideal opportunity for all final year and PGCE students to gain direct information about potential employers, job opportunities, induction, and application and interview tips and advice.

Guest speakers include representatives from Lancashire County Council, London and surrounding areas, a Secondary School Headteacher and a Supply Agency. There will also be the opportunity to speak directly with exhibitors.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car run a large, award-winning Management Training Programme and vacancy levels with the company have remained high in spite of the recession. Vacancies across the UK.

Good Companions

Good Companions are actively looking for full and part-time carers to work in the Carlisle, Longtown and Brampton areas. They may also have occasional opportunities in residential and live-in care.

There will also be a display of free careers information to take away on the day.

Diversity Careers Shows

The UK network of careers fairs for lesbian, gay bisexual and transgendered (LGTB) candidates is running again this year. Places can be booked via uwern@diversitycareersshow.co.uk – attendance is free with coach transport laid on for students from selected universities.
